I am Ruggero Pellegrin — an Italian photographer based in Cheshire, England.
I was born in Italy, worked in Saudi Arabia, lived in Texas, and chose Cheshire as my home — each place shaping my eye in a different way, each culture adding a new layer to how I see the world.
I photograph with curiosity, warm irony, and a deep belief that ordinary moments contain extraordinary truths. My work spans documentary projects, long-term anthropological studies, and portraits of people whose quiet courage deserves to be seen.
I am currently developing four long-term projects — The English Way of Being, Signs of Belief, Arrested Development, and The Courage Of — alongside a growing archive of work from Saudi Arabia, Nepal, the United States, and Italy.
In 2016 I published my first photo book, Saudi Arabia 2015-2016, documenting expat life in one of the world's most private countries.
I shoot with Fuji and Sony, depending on the mood.
