About the Project
Three years in Houston, Texas: a city that makes no apologies for being exactly what it is. This project follows the arc of an Italian couple landing in America for the first time: the heat, the Houston light in July unlike anything seen before, and the slow discovery of a home on the edge of the Armand Bayou.
The first photograph taken on American soil was a blue kerb and some grass. The last memory of a bar in Clear Lake is not the drink but the light. In between: a Post-it note reminding Marta to feed the vultures, two cats on GPS, gators at the door.
So many iconic places: Hugo in Montrose, the House of Blues, a barge in Seabrook, and Ashley in Clear Lake on Sunday mornings with an Americano. A foreign place becoming, against all reasonable expectation, home.
The full story, with many more photographs, will be in the book.
